Dr. Stephenson is a native Texan, born and raised in the West Texas town of Abilene. She is a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She obtained her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. In pursuit of the highest quality surgical training, Dr. Stephenson made the cross-country move to Philadelphia where she completed her General Surgery Residency. It was there that she met her husband, Dr. Ryan Stephenson, who now practices Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery with Genesis Medical Group.

Following residency completion, Dr. Stephenson convinced her husband, a beach-loving New Jerseyan, to relocate to Houston, where she would complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and advanced endoscopy at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

Dr. Stephenson is pleased to join Genesis Medical Group where she will offer a broad spectrum of advanced minimally invasive surgical and endoscopic techniques, treating a wide variety of conditions. Her top priority is the establishment of meaningful and trusting relationships with her patients with the goal of providing the highest quality individualized patient-focused care possible.

Dr. Stephenson and her husband enjoy working together to provide first-class multi-disciplinary and comprehensive care to those suffering from acid reflux and Barrett’s esophagus, offering both surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
Examples of other services offered include Hiatal and abdominal wall hernia repair, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, bariatric/weight loss surgery, gallbladder disease treatment/cholecystectomy, anti-reflux (GERD) surgery, breast lumpectomy and mastectomy, benign breast disease treatment, colon and rectal surgery, skin and soft tissue excision, splenectomy, appendectomy, thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, screening diagnostic endoscopy and therapeutic endoscopy.

Outside of the clinic and operating room, Dr. Stephenson enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two dachshunds, Casanova and Jamie. She enjoys playing and watching tennis, snow skiing, hiking, cycling, golf, music, and traveling the world. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, SAGES, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic and Robotic Surgeons (SLS).
